Sunset Beach Area near "Honu Hale" - Turtle House
Located among the fabled waves of Hawaii's North Shore, Sunset wears many faces. A north swell creates a long, shreddable pointbreak, and with a little added east swell, those same waves will connect with Boneyards and Backyards and make up one of the potentially longest waves in Hawaii. However, only a west-northwest swell can generate the grand machine that is Sunset! Sunset is located just up the highway from the world famous waves of Pipeline and Waimea, but neither match Sunset's space or personality.
Hawaii's Sunset beach on the North Shore of Oahu provides the most
tempting combination of sun, sand, sea and surf that is too hard to
resist for any beach lover and water sport adventurer.
With Sunset Beach and its golden sand, swaying
palms, and warm waters what more can you ask for? It's just another
day in paradise on this north shore beach. The weather is near
perfect, ranging from 70 F (20 C) to 85 F (25 C), with water
temperatures ranging from 66 F (19 C) to 72 F (22 C).
For the Golfer, the world class Turtle Bay Resort and PGA tour stop is only five minutes away. The resort is home to some of the best fine dining on the island. If Golf is not your game there are many alternatives within minutes of "Honu Hale" including horse back riding on the beach, breath-taking hikes and bike paths through the tropical Pupukea hills. All kinds of recreational, tours, activities and equipment are available nearby. Swim with the turtles at "sharks cove" or enjoy the beauty of Waimea Bay just a few minutes away.
Turtle Bay Resort and the Polynesian Cultural Center are popular destinations a short drive up the coast for fine dining, world class golfing and the most spectacular Luau and Polynesian Performance available anywhere.
Another short drive brings you to the historic town of Haleiwa where you can enjoy shopping, shaved ice and great food. Everything you want to do in Hawaii can be found in this picturesque town with it's many shops, restaurants and, of course, surfing lessons in the gentle surf at Alii Beach Park. The Haleiwa harbor provides everything for fun and adventure in the ocean from "big game" fishing to guided scuba adventures, outrigger canoes, Shark Diving tours, and more!
If you still want more action, all the
entertainment and sites of the truly International City of Honolulu
is within a one-hour drive. Visit Waikiki and enjoy an island
drink at "Dukes Bare Foot Bar" or shop at the Alamoana. Still
want more? - Attend one of the diverse cultural performances
at the Blaisdale or visit Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial.
The options are endless and when you have seen and done enough there
is no better place to come home to than your "Hale on the
Sand" where all you will hear on your lanai is the ocean's rhythms
and the songs of tropical birds.

Sunset beach offers natural beauty in the Hawaiian summer with its wide beach plus clean, clear water, as well as activities ranging from swimming, snorkeling, bodysurfing, body boarding, and surfing. In winter wild, thundering waves pound the shoreline.
