Waimea Bay Area at Oceanfront Hale

However, if you must explore you will find the best of the North Shore is not far away.  Just 1/2 mile up the coast is the World Famous Waimea Beach Park where "Big Wave Surfing" began.  Waimea Bay Beach Park, along with Sunset Beach, was recently rated #2 of the "Ten Best Beaches in Hawaii" by the Travel Channel. Off the road, inland from Waimea surf, is the beautiful Waimea Valley.  This vast preserve, managed by the Audubon Society for the past several years, is rich in native Hawaiian history and beauty with it's ancient Hawaiian ruins and the amazing variety of exotic plants. Hiking to the Waimea Falls through this tropical preserve for a swim in the cool natural pool at the base of Waimea Falls is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Up the coast a few more miles are two of the most famous surfing venues in the world - The Bonsai Pipeline and Sunset Beach.  If you are in Hawaii anytime from November through March, and you want to be amazed by surfing's best, stop by and take in a surf contest like the "Triple Crown of Surfing" or just watch the locals do what they do best.  Turtle Bay Resort and the Polynesian Cultural Center are popular destinations a short drive up the coast for fine dining, world class golfing and the most spectacular Luau and Polynesian Performance available anywhere.

Just two miles the other direction from your "Hale on the Sand" is the historic town of Haleiwa where you can enjoy shopping, shaved ice and great food.  Everything you want to do in Hawaii can be found in this picturesque town with it's many shops, restaurants and, of course, surfing lessons in the gentle surf at Alii Beach Park.  The Haleiwa harbor provides everything for fun and adventure in the ocean from "big game" fishing to guided scuba adventures, outrigger canoes, Shark Diving tours, and more!

If you still want more action, all the entertainment and sites of the truly International City of Honolulu is within a one-hour drive.  Visit Waikiki and enjoy an island drink at "Dukes Bare Foot Bar" or shop at the Alamoana.  Still want more?  - Attend one of the diverse cultural performances at the Blaisdale or visit Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial.  The options are endless and when you have seen and done enough there is no  better place to come home to than your "Hale on the Sand" where all you will hear on your lanai is the ocean's rhythms and the songs of tropical birds.

When it is time to go, the airport is only 35 minutes away.  And, of course, your Hale will be only a short 35 minute drive from the airport when you return the next time.

Waimea Bay was named as one of the most beautiful Beach Parks in the world and this luxury beachfront home, just around the corner, offers even more.  Public access points to the Bay are located far from the very special and very private cove where this home sits, making it a haven for green sea turtles.  Some of the finest surfing in the world is right out front so there is no need to go anywhere else to experience the "world class" surfing and water sports for which the North Shore is famous.  Snorkeling and scuba diving enthusiasts will also find what they are looking for in the reefs and underwater formations right off your lanai.  No need to jump in the car, as you will not find a better spot on the Island for ocean sport or just soaking up the endless ocean vistas, warm sun and the gentle breeze.
